JOB SUMMARY
The Security System Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of security systems in residential settings. You will collaborate closely with project managers to ensure seamless project execution and work directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver customized solutions that enhance their safety and security.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Execution: Execute projects from start to finish. Ensure the project space is prepared to specifications, all equipment is installed and functioning properly, and clients are trained on the use of their new systems before hand-off.
Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, contractors, and clients to ensure adherence to procedures, project timelines, and client satisfaction.
Documentation: Accurately document installations, system configurations, and any issues encountered during project execution. Report and communicate progress, challenges, and completed tasks to project managers and supervisors, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accessible for future reference.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Security Systems: Understanding the various types of residential security equipment, such as alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and access control systems.
- Certified Alarm Technician Level 1
- Construction Plan and Wiring Map Literacy: Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to ensure accurate installation of security systems according to design specifications.
Installation and Setup: Proficiency in setting up and installing security systems, including wiring, terminations, mounting, configuring, and commissioning equipment.
- Security Systems: Experience with DSC, Qolsys, Alarm.com, and other smart home security solutions.
- Networking: Basic understanding of computer networking, particularly as it relates to security systems that are connected over IP networks.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and fix technical issues with security systems quickly and efficiently.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients and colleagues, and to understand client needs.
- Customer Service: Strong focus on client satisfaction, including being responsive, professional, and able to handle stressful situations calmly.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team.
- Time Management: Efficient in managing time when installing and setting up security equipment under time constraints.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring all aspects of the security system setup are correct and functional.
- Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changes in equipment, software, or procedures.
- Physical Stamina: Being physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, running cables, and spending long hours on your feet.
