About The Role
We seek a passionate and proactive Summer Cybersecurity (SoC Analyst) Intern to join Wärtsilä North America in our Houston or Ft Lauderdale offices on a hybrid working schedule. This is a 3-month paid internship.
You will have the opportunity to work with senior members of the Cybersecurity team as well as other leaders within the SoC organization to have hands-on training and gain experience in assisting in protecting the organizations networks and system infrastructure and identify potential threats. In this program, you will collaborate closely with our SoC, Marine and Energy Managers that protect our worldwide operations. The ideal opportunity possesses a strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, the ability to identify, investigate and escalate alerts and events to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized accessor hard caused by cybercriminals or malicious insiders.
As an cybersecurity (SoC Analyst) Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of threat hunting, incident investigations, compliance and regulations. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced and collaborative environment while contributing to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities
- Focus on real-time monitoring and response to security incidents (Tier-3) when needed.
- As SOC analyst, can and is willing to learn and understand the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) of cyber adversaries.
- Communicates and shares information as part of an expanded, dedicated team of cyber and SoC .Analysts that act as the last line of defense against cyber crime.
- Assist in performing investigations as required.
- Collects, correlates, analyses and communicates actionable threat data and intelligence.
- Acts as cyber agent and Cyber Operations / SoC link for US - North America.
Qualifications
- Current student pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or other relevant technical degrees.
- Previous exposure to Cybersecurity
- The ability to commute to our Houston or Ft Lauderdale or Emeryville office 2-3 days a week.
- A combined GPA of 3.0.
- Have a basic understanding of network security and be familiar with various security tools.
- Have the ability to analyze and respond to security incidents promptly.
- Have the ability to dissect complex security issues and identify patterns.
- Have effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail: Thoroughness in investigating incidents and identifying anomalies.
