Director of Security
Overview
The Director of Security ensures that the hotel is meeting the proper standard of care for the protection of assets (hotel, guest and employees). They oversee the PM shift workflow of all departments in the role of MOD, by assisting hands-on in housekeeping, front office and F&B. Participates in training new employees. Participates in discipline of employees in accordance with company policy.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Understands and abides by all safety protocols and takes lead in addressing emergency protocols.
- Willingly embrace last-minute changes in direction and unexpected changes in operational plan.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Conducts daily 2nd shift huddle meetings.
- Oversees all loss prevention operations, including, but not limited to, dispatch, patrol process, emergency response, investigatory process and safety. Responsible for shipping & receiving for all departments.
- Completes nightly detailed shift report.
- Works in coordination with engineering to conduct regularly scheduled fire/emergency drills, evacuations and property hazard and risk assessment.
- Working knowledge of Boomerang/Lost & Found System.
- Oversees the Electronic key system, which includes monitoring, issuing and daily inventory of all hard keys as well.
- Develops relationship with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Coordinates and conducts training in first aid, CPR, and crisis management.
- Patrols lobbies, corridors and public rooms, confers with management, interviews guests and employees and talks to persons to detect infringements and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalisms and accidents. .
- Patrols public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions and missing or inoperative safety equipment.
- Monitors employee entrance; conducts random package inspections.
- Warns and/or ejects trespassers and troublemakers. Notifies staff of persons with questionable reputations.
- Investigates accidents and completes thorough detail accident reports to include-who, what, when, where and why.
- Document pertinent information in department logbook; complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving.
- Responsible for knowing and abiding by all department, Crestline and hotel policies.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid certification log.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Prepare work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Engineering.
- Document all pertinent information in the logbook daily.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving.
- Review hotel status and any follow-up actions with on-coming Guard.
Education And Experience
- College degree preferred. Must have at least two (2) to three (3) years of related Security/Loss Prevention experience, with at least two (2) years of management experience.
- Experience in hospitality preferred.
- Must be able to obtain TIPS, First Aid and CPR certification.
Preferred
- Certification of previous training in alcohol awareness program.
- Previous hotel, law enforcement, or military experience preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of local laws, investigative methods, and fire safety.
- Certification in CPR and first aid.
